| After opening in November 2011, Restaurant Mason received its first Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Award, One Chef’s Hat, in its first year. Since then it has gone from strength to strength opening Café Mason in August 2012 and Mason Catering in early 2013.

With Chris’ previous Hatted (Restaurant II) and Michelin Star (The Ledbury, Notting Hill – London) experience and Ami’s coffee finesse and back of house expertise, you are sure to enjoy one of Newcastle’s premier establishments.

Restaurant Mason

Restaurant Mason is situated underneath the Essington Apartments on Hunter Street, Newcastle (previously the Oishi Japanese Restaurant and Atlas Café). Chris Thornton took hold of the space in November and after the latest reincarnation, a complete refurbishment was required. An extensive redecoration and refit of the space has taken place with outstanding results. Restaurant Mason offers smart food in a relaxed venue.

Cafe Mason

Café Mason is situated next door to Restaurant Mason. A fine, French style patisserie, where the pastries are baked in house daily, from scratch and where the aroma of sweet Di Bella Coffee fills the air. Ami Thornton took hold of the space in July and since then has completed a full renovation of the space to make it resemble the Restaurant, bringing the two spaces together in unity.
